CyberPatrol and Bob Bales is coming to the rescue of parents deathly afraid of what might happen to their defenseless and out of control children in MySpace a.k.a. the violent and dangerous world of cyberspace predators.
With wording like this being part of the common consciousness what else can that caring mother do but pull out her almost maxed out credit card and fork out the price of her child’s safety to CyberPatrol?
It is time to pay otherwise you do not care about your child’s well being!
Instead of spending quality parenting time and teaching children common sense i.e. not talking to or meeting with strangers from the internet, lets have a software company protect our children! Makes sense, well it makes dollars and sense!
This is one reason why the USA is laughed at and ridiculed in less paranoid and fear controlled parts of the World.
Lets examine the words of CyberPatrol president and chief executive Bob Bales and find some moral holes in CyberPatrol’s incredible product and solution for a safer internet for children.
“CyberPatrol is committed to developing new and enhanced products that will place children’s online safety firmly in the hands of parents”
This used car salesman attitude is so 80’s and very transparent to most people … who are not gripped by fear.
Read the power words which are part of every effective sales pitch: committed, enhanced, firmly.
Seems like there is no doubt CyberPatrol is the best online security software and you should buy their software right now!
“Our plan is to provide simple and non-intrusive products that will work for families”
Cyber crime and cyber predators are a complex issue. When a 48 year old pedophile poses as a 15 year old student we are looking at the true complexities of online safety.
“Simple and non-intrusive” will not be the solution to a complex and intrusive world and techniques of criminals.
But it sure sounds nice and easy: Simple and non-intrusive, almost like warm and fuzzy. So you should buy CyberPatrol’s software right now!
But CyberPatrol is only doing what every salesman and politician have been doing forever: scare the living daylight out of the masses, promise the impossible and exploit the less fortunate for their hard earned dollars!
Most telling detail: the CyberPatrol product hadn’t changed significantly since April of 2005 but by August 2008 they will release “a re-branded version 7.6 reflecting the new company name and new vision”, CyberPatrol president and chief executive Bob Bales said.
Looks like a failing company (not updating a software product for 3 years) got a new vision to target .. hmmm I mean protect our fear based society exploiting the most easily manipulated and the ones with the strongest spending power: parents.
Cashing in on fear for the life and well being of children is huge business, just look at all the anti bacterial products!
The former name of CyberPatrol was PestPatrol.com. Sounds like bug exterminators, definitely not a “simple and non-intrusive” way of doing business.
